Why learn Cranio SelfCare4Health?
Cranio SelfCare4Health is based on the principles of Craniosacral Therapy and is designed for selfcare. There are many people like you who would like to be able to experience selfcare without becoming a professional practitioner. When you understand the full potential of craniosacral therapy and apply the concept to yourself, healing takes place.
Craniosacral Therapy potentially offers
such a wide variety of applications:
REPAIR - It helps address a more structural level by
working with injured joints, certain organs, or specific body areas.
REGAIN - It helps balance the autonomic nervous system
with an effect on your overall wellbeing as well as your ability to cope with
stress.
RECONNECT - It helps facilitate trauma resolution and
accompany you on your journey toward personal and spiritual growth.
There are several principles that
Craniosacral Therapy practitioners can observe and hold in her consciousness
when facilitating a treatment session.
Whole Body Orientation
“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” ― Aristotle
The body, the mind
and emotion are inter-related and operate as one unit. When we heal, we embrace our totality. What we feel and think affects our body and
organs and how we perceive our body affects our emotions and mental state.
Our craniosacral system
consists of the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and
spinal cord, as well as the attached bones. These membranes extend from the
bones of the skull, face and mouth (which make up the cranium) and down the
spine to the sacrum or tailbone area. This craniosacral system plays a vital
role in maintaining the environment in which the central nervous system (CNS)
functions. The CNS monitors and responds to everything which is happening in our
body. Since the brain and spinal cord
are contained within the craniosacral system, it is easy to see how it has a
powerful influence over a wide variety of bodily functions.
Another system in our body that
functions as a whole unit is our fascia. Fascia is a tensional
fluid system. It is a web of tiny fluid filled microtubules that exist in a
multidimensional structure surrounding every cell in our body. Fascia is very densely woven,
covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein, as
well as, all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and
spinal cord. The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is
not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one continuous
structure that exists from head to toe without interruption. In other words, fascia is everywhere and connects to everything in our
body.
Fluid
Our body is 92% fluid – blood, extracellular fluid (lymphatic fluid, interstitial fluid and transcellular fluid), and cerebrospinal fluid. Cerebrospinal fluid is a watery fluid that circulates
through the brain’s ventricles (cavities or hollow spaces) and around the
surface of the brain and spinal cord. This fluid not only cushions the
brain from impact but keeps our nervous system functioning, transports hormones
and peptides and drains toxins from our brain tissue. Recent developments in scientific research shows
the biomarkers within CSF as pre indicators for Alzheimer's and other
conditions.
Motility/movement
Quick Definition: Motility is the ability of a cell or organism or fluid to move of its own
accord by expending energy. For example, sperm motility refers to the
movement and swimming of sperm. Poor sperm motility means that the sperm do not
swim properly, which can lead to male infertility. One way to sense motility in your body is via
your digestive tract – peristalsis and segmentation.
Movement is key to being alive. When our movement is compromised by stress,
illness or injury, blockages on a fascial, muscular or skeletal level may
affect function of fluid flow in our body, namely the flow of cerebrospinal
fluid and also the function of our nervous system.
Our body don’t lie
When we are stress, our body tells a
story. Whether it is physical, emotional
or mental. Whether you have aches and
pain, anxiety or emotional distress, know that our body is continuously healing
itself. When we try to hide or suppress
what we are feeling and sensing, we curtail a healing process that was taking
place in us. When we are able to
reconnect to our body rhythms and expression, we can help our body to reorganize
itself to a state of balance. We can
start by quietening our mind and listening to the expression of our body. This can be learned and once you are connected
to sensing your body, you are able to rewire your brain. Craniosacral therapy helps to unfold the inertial
energy in our body so that we can see our story, and release the parts that no
longer serve us so that we can feel at ease and calm.
Listening
Craniosacral therapy is an approach
of listening to the body's patterns, expressions, movement and restrictions at
a far deeper level than most modern medicine. There is no intervention, no force, no drugs,
no needles used to try to change anything and no manipulation. There is simply a
holding of space or state to potentially allow things to happen towards a state
of balance. When the body is heard, it
will heal.
You heal yourself
You can heal yourself, whether you
believe or not, it is relative. Nobody
can do the healing for you. Just like breathing, it is an autonomic and
involuntary response in your body system. Nobody tells you to breathe nor to stop breathing. Even
if you hold your breath for a long period and not breathe, your body will override
this task and trigger your body to take a deep breath. Craniosacral Therapy is about reconnecting to
your health matrix and to your body's natural rhythms. Your craniosacral therapy practitioner is a
facilitator, becomes an observer and witness of your body's expression and help
to mirror this expression back to your body. It is as if you are having a conversation with a friend and sharing your
story and that friend is quiet and listening to your story without judgment,
without intention, without interrupting you, and without advising you. At the end of that conversation somehow you
feel uplifted and relieve as if the weight you are carrying on your shoulders become
lighter and dissipated. Craniosacral
therapy helps you to regain and reconnect with your health matrix. The story no longer matters and the process towards
health has taken place.
