Craniosacral Can Potentially Help Regulate Your Anxiety And Stress Level That Could Be Wrecking Your Health.

In recent months I have been getting numerous calls from men and women asking for help for their anxiety and stress issues despite of them eating right, exercising and resting.

One recent example is a man in his early 40’s who has high anxiety level and has symptoms of Tinnitus: buzzing or ringing noise in the ear.

Common Causes of Tinnitus:

Noise exposure.
Exposure to loud noises can damage the outer hair cells, which are part of the inner ear. These hair cells do not grow back once they are damaged. Even short exposure to very loud sounds, such as gunfire, can be damaging to the ears and cause permanent hearing loss. Long periods of exposure to moderately loud sounds, such as factory noise or music played through earphones, can result in just as much damage to the inner ear, with permanent hearing loss and tinnitus. Listening to moderately loud sounds for hours at a young age carries a high risk of developing hearing loss and tinnitus later in life.

Age-related hearing loss.
Earwax blocking the ear canal. When too much earwax accumulates, it becomes too hard to wash away naturally, causing hearing loss or irritation of the eardrum, which can lead to tinnitus.

Less Common Causes of Tinnitus:

1.     Meniere's disease.
Tinnitus can be an early indicator of Meniere's disease, an inner ear disorder that may be caused by abnormal inner ear fluid pressure. A feeling of ear fullness, vertigo, and hearing loss are other symptoms of Meniere’s disease.

2.     Ear bone changes.
Stiffening of the bones in your middle ear may affect your hearing and cause tinnitus. This condition, caused by abnormal bone growth, tends to run in families.

3.     TMJ disorders.
Problems with the temporomandibular joint, the joint on each side of your head in front of your ears, where your lower jawbone meets your skull, and/or extensive dental works can cause tinnitus.

4.     Head injuries or neck injuries.
Head or neck trauma can affect the inner ear, hearing nerves or brain function linked to hearing. Such injuries generally cause tinnitus in only one ear.

Challenges like these cause your nervous system to go into an adrenal state of red alert, known as “fight or flight.”  This makes your nervous system hypersensitive and causes dramatic changes throughout your body.  The central nervous system allows for communication throughout the parts of the body. The central nervous system is also responsible for processing every sensation and thought you experience. The sensory information that is gathered by receptors throughout the body then passes this information on to the central nervous system. The central nervous system also sends messages out to the rest of the body in order to control movement, actions and responses to the environment.

The endocrine system is also essential to communication. The endocrine system utilizes glands located throughout the body, which secrete hormones that regulate a variety of things such as metabolism, digestion, blood pressure and growth. While the endocrine system is not directly linked to the nervous system, the two interact in a number of ways.

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY works with the underlying cause of imbalances in the nervous system and endocrine system. It also aims to reduce restrictions of the bones, especially of the temporal bone which houses the ear, muscles and ligament attachments which when hypertonic (contracted) can exacerbate the problem.
Craniosacral also potentially removes restrictions on the bones of the skull, spinal column and sacrum allowing the cerebrospinal fluid to flow.  Cerebrospinal fluid is a clear, colorless fluid that flows through the brain and spinal cord, surrounding and cushioning it from injury. Cerebrospinal fluid has the same consistency as water and delivers nutrients to your central nervous system. Cerebrospinal fluid is produced by the choroid plexus, in the ventricles, or hollow spaces, in your brain. Cerebrospinal fluid is completely replaced every few hours and carries away waste material.

Whatever the cause, it will be important to teach yourself to feel your body again, and become aware of places in your body where the stress and tension is holding on and also of places where you feel resource and at ease.  At first you may find this difficult and over a period of time you will be able to sense more places of resource and at ease in your whole body.

In your Craniosacral Therapy sessions with Adida, you will be guided to divert your attention from thinking in your mind to feeling your body. This is not about generating thoughts in your head, it is about letting sensory information come from your body back to your brain, thus bringing you the present moment and being presence in your body in order for healing to take place.
